How does Roadmap work?

General

What if a student wants to change from Roadmap without mentoring to Roadmap with mentoring?

Roadmap can be used without guidance or with guidance. A student can easily switch from Roadmap without a mentor to Roadmap with a mentor. The student can always change his choice to use Roadmap with or without a mentor in the settings on his account. Once the student indicates that he or she wants a mentor, the administrator will be notified. The administrator then makes the link between the student and the supervisor. Once the link has been made by the administrator of the institution, both you and the student will be notified, and your Roadmap accounts will be linked to each other.

What if I want to take over a student from a co-mentor or vice versa?

The link between a student and a mentor is made by the administrator of your institution. Contact the administrator if a change of mentor is required. Please note, keep in mind that with a change of mentor your personal file / notes about the student and all messages between the student and yourself will be deleted. Notify the student of this so that they can save important information from the messages in time.

What if I want to add a student to Roadmap?

In the first instance, the student must register for Roadmap himself, the student can surf to www.myroadmap.eu, click on register and follow the instructions (see also the Roadmap manual for students 'register and sign in’ for a detailed description). If the student needs support with this or cannot register himself, you can do this together with the student during a mentoring session or in exceptional cases the student can be added to Roadmap by SIHO. For this, contact roadmap@siho.be.

My account

Within your account you can adjust your personal data, password and settings with regard to the tutorial and the frequency of mail notifications concerning messages from students. Go to your account via the person icon in the menu bar.

Guidance

Familiarise the student with Roadmap

Roadmap offers various tools that can support the study career of students with autism spectrum disorder in higher education. To ensure that the student can make optimal use of these functionalities, you can go through Roadmap together with the student.

You can also use the Roadmap manual for students for this. This contains a detailed explanation of the possibilities of the tool and how the student can work with it.

Successfully use Roadmap as a mentor

The functionalities of the tools are explained in detail in the Roadmap manual for mentors. For each functionality (for example network, agenda, logbook, etc.) it is described how you can use this while mentoring.

Every student is different and has unique needs. Discuss how Roadmap will be used for mentoring purposes with the student. Also discuss the privacy settings of Roadmap with the student. Does the student choose to not make everything public via Roadmap? Then discuss whether you also extend this to the personal coaching sessions or whether the student wants to go over the content with you at these moments.

Make clear agreements

Good agreements make good friends. Roadmap can be used in various ways. It can be used e.g. both to a limited extent and very intensively within mentoring. Make clear agreements with the student so that you both know what you can expect. What can and can you not see as a mentor? What issues will you discuss during the face-to-face sessions? Do you use Roadmap as a starting point or as a supplement? When will you follow-up the messages? Etc.

Privacy

I don't see the same amount of information from every student, why does this happen?

Roadmap is a personal guidance tool where the student decides for himself how he or she wants to use the tool. Students can choose to use Roadmap without or with a mentor. When a student chooses to use Roadmap with a mentor, the student can choose which information the mentor can or cannot see. It is therefore possible that you get to see more with one student than with another student.

The student receives the following privacy-related options when he / she registers:

Logbook: show all | only show emotion, stress level and energy| only show number of entries | show nothing at all.
Calendar: show all | only show types | only show statistics | show nothing at all.
Network: show all | only show number of people in network and names | only show number of people in network | show nothing at all.
